NGO supports Uni-Uyo scheme with student’s scholarship

The University of Uyo (Uni-Uyo) Support Scheme also known as Hope Scheme instituted by the vice chancellor, Prof. (Mrs) Comfort Ekpo few years ago, has received a boost with five undergraduates Scholarship by a Non-governmental Organization, Akwa-Cross Canada, Ottawa Chapter.

Presenting the awards, the leader of the Akwa-Cross Canada, Ottawa Chapter, Mr. Chapman Uko, commended the university management for the opportunity to contribute to the university Education of the awardees who sometimes find it difficult to acquire university education.

He said: “The award ceremony would have taken place last year but for the unfortunate June 12 may hem and arson it was postponed to 2014 in response to the institution’s Hope Scheme!
The Vice-chancellor, Prof. (Mrs) Comfort Ekpo, commended the NGO for affecting the lives of the five students which she said was part of the answers to her prayer.She urged the awardees to work hard so as not to be overtaken by other students who would be interested in the award.

One of the benefiting students, Mr. Etiemana Warrie Benjamin, with a cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.72 commended the NGO, stating that the award would serve as a motivator to them.
In a related development, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Comfort Ekpo has reiterated her administration’s commitment to the training and retraining of the university workforce for increased capacity building in order to enhance productivity.
She stated this during open a tow-day In-house Training workshop on Attitude and Organization Growth by the guarantee Images Communications, Limited Lagos.

Mrs Ekpo commended the chief Executive Officer of Guarantee Images Communication Limited Mr. Ayo Ajasa for organizing the workshop and assured that similar workshops would be mounted from time to time in line with her administration’s favorable disposition towards staff training and re-training.
