NGO trains CSO’s on budget tracking in Jigawa

A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Action Against Hunger (ACF) has organized a five day training workshop for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on how to track budgets.

According to one of the facilitators, Kunle Ishola, the workshop was aimed at building the capacity of the CSOs to focus on budget tracking so as to improve transparency and accountability in government nutrition spending.

The training which held in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital, was also to identify challenges, inefficiencies and waste in nutrition service that will lead to improvement in nutrition budget allocation.

Blueprint learnt that, transparency and accountability in government nutrition spending will form part of the discussion having realized the money approved for nutrition across states are insufficient thereby leading to deaths of many children in Nigeria.

About 32 participants drawn across Yobe and Jigawa states are attending the workshop were paper presentations on budget process, budget transparency and accountability, nutrition budget analysis among others.
