NGO trains MDAs on effective data management in Yobe

As part of efforts to improve effective budgetary system in ministries, departments and agencies, a Non Governmental Organisation
(NGO), Connected Development (CODE) has trained civil servants on
effective data management in Yobe state.

The programme which took place at Damaturu was aimed at
developing the capacity of workers on the modern way of keeping
data.

Community Engagement Manager, Morakinyo Busayo, said: “we are here to
train some selected Ministry Department and Agencies (MDAs) staff on how to use data in their budgeting system to develop quality programs to their respective communities.

“Their work is integral to the local communities and without data from
such communities, it will not be possible to create policies that
could benefit the communities,” he said.

He said there was a very huge gap in the area of education, health and water sanitation and hygiene which needed to be addressed.

“Over 13.2m children are out of school in Nigeria; over 120 Nigerians
defecate openly without toilets, apart from the high infant mortality
rate “.

Usman Bisallah and Abdullahi Abubakar, who were participants at the
training thanked CODE for the knowledge acquired saying it would help
them improve and fast track decision making while performing their
duties.

The participants were drawn from State Universal Basic Education Board
(SUBEB), Rural Water and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA) and Primary
Healthcare Management Agency.
