NGO urges women to seek leadership positions

The senior programme officer, National Democratic Institute(NDI), a non-government organisation, Mrs. Ashley Dauda, has called on young women in the country to employ their youthful exuberance in seeking elective positions in order  prove their leadership roles.

Speaking at a Gender and Leadership Session for Young Women Politicians organised by the Disputes Resolutions and Development Initiative (DRDI), a n NGO in Kano Friday, Dauda said young women politicians had possessed the wherewithal to fight for elective positions.

According to her, in a modern democratic system, Women are indispensable in the quest to make the system vibrant as proven by the indices of their blossoming numerical strength.

Speaking earlier, the executive director, Disputes Resolutions and Development Initiative, Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Yahaya, said the one day session was convened to provide the participants with an understanding of gender socialisation and gender roles in addition to making them to comprehend the concept of gender equity.
