Niger closes Bida – Minna road, 3 others to trailers

The Niger state government has closed the Minna-Bida road to articulated vehicles in order to enhance speedy completion of the going construction work on the road.

The closure was effected Tuesday at Bida end of the road by the Niger state governor, Abubakar Sani Bello.

He ordered the closure of all other state-owned road to trailers, tankers and other articulated vehicles with effect from the day.

He said the decision to close the road to all these categories of articulated vehicles is to enable the construction company handling the work meet its schedule on completion of the project.

Accompanied by members of the state Infrastructure and Project Monitoring Committee headed by the chief of staff to the governor, Mallam Ibrahim Balarabe, and state executive members, the governor appealed to the public to cooperate with the government as the decision was for the good of all, including those affected.

Other state roads closed include Lapai-Paiko, Chanchaga Bridge-Maikunkele, Muye-Lapai, and Zungeru-Wushishi roads.

The governor stated that these roads were closed after series of meetings with the relevant stakeholders.
