Niger Delta militants to FG: We’re not comfortable with amnesty programme

By Our Correspondent

Spokes person of Adaka Boro Avengers, Gen. Edmos Ayayeibo, has condemned “the manner in which some members of the President’s men are parading themselves as peacemakers,
disseminating misleading and diversionary information to youths of the Niger Delta region, claiming to have the President’s mandate to accept and enlist militant groups, who are willing to accept Amnesty.”
Other militant groups condemning what they also call “unprofessional and insincere manner in which the federal government is handling amnesty deal and programme”, include the Niger Delta Strike Force (NDSF), Adaka Boro Avengers (ABA), Niger Delta Creek Warriors (NDCW), Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders (NDRC), Niger Delta Republic Seekers (NDRS), Ogunuma Camp of Niger Delta (OCND).
In his speech, Ayayeibo condemned in strong terms “the method in which the gullible youths in the creeks are being deceived with multiple slots from the Amnesty programme, “and extorting thousands of hard earned money from our unemployed and desperate youths, trying to earn
a living.”
The ABA spokesman said “it is so worrisome and disheartening that instead of mediating between the federal government and the rising crisis in the Niger Delta, these fraudsters have chosen to further connive with the enemies of the Niger Delta to enslave us perpetually.”
He claimed that, one of the methods being employed by “the so called friends of the agitators is to flash fictitious documents from the Presidency, asking the boys to come down to Abuja and attend a meeting with him, thereby requesting them to contribute money for accommodation and other miscellaneous expenses to carter for their welfare.”
Ayayeibo, therefore, called for “a vote of no confidence on the Presidential Amnesty deal and those parading themselves as aides to the federal government,” saying the real issues that led to the agitation by the Niger Delta groups have been thrown under the carpet in favour of self-serving interests.
