Niger, Etsu Nupe mourn Mai-Borgu Kintoro III

The people and government of Niger state have continued to mourn the passage of the Emir of Borgu, Alhaji Sen. Haliru Dantoro Kintoro III at the age of 77.
In condolence messages, the state government, the Etsu Nupe and chairman, state council of traditional rulers and the former governor of the state, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, paid tribute to the late emir describing the loss as monumental and irreparable.
In his tribute, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello lamented that the demise of the Mai Borgu, a well respected first class traditional ruler had denied his administration and the country in general the opportunity to continue to benefiting from the wealth of experience of the late seasoned public administrator and lawmaker.

“The demise of the esteemed and highly reverred father, Alhaji (Senator) Haliru Dantoro, Kitoro lll, Mai Borgu of Borgu Kingd-om is a great loss of inestimable quantum. The country, Nigeria and indeed Niger State where he hailed from, will miss his wise counsel and wealth of experience as a seasoned administrator”, he said.
Also in a condolence message, the Etsu Nupe Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar expressed pains over the death of his colleague from Borgu chiefdom.
“The late Emir of Borgu showed love to his people who live in his domain, irrespective of their tribe, religious inclination and in spite of these he was a Godly man who has the interest of his subjects at heart above any other thing”, he said.

The royal father said that he was deeply touched when he received the sad news that  Emir of Borgu Alhaji Kintoro, had passed on, adding that his death is a huge loss not only to Borgu kingdom, but also to Niger state and the nation as a whole,
He said that it was significant that throughout his remarkable life, the late monarch retained the humble and unassuming mien of a technocrat, saying as a leader, he retained the respect of all and sundry.

“He was a bridge builder, an amiable personality who is at home with his people, whose vacuum will be difficult to fill’, he added.
Also in a condolence message, the immediate past governor of Niger state, Babangida Aliyu described the late emir as an exemplary leader and bridge builder.
“He was a great leader and his network of friends extended beyond the shores of Nigeria. He was indeed unique in his leadership and deep in his faith in Allah. May his exemplary leadership in promoting peace, unity and progress of Nigeria be remembered as his legacy towards making Nigeria a better place to live”, he said.
