Niger: Police present N26.2m to deceased personnel’s families, others  

 

The Niger state Commissioner of Police Ogundele Ayodeji has presented cheques amounting to N26, 227,409.17 to15 families of deceased policemen and 38 others,  who sustained injuries in the line of duties in the state. 

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Niger state command,  DSP Wasiu Abiodun disclosed this in a statement issued in Minna on Tuesday 

He said that commissioner performed the event on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, adding that  15 deceased beneficiaries were under the Group Life Assurance (GLA) while  the 38 injured policemen benefited under the Group Personal Accident (GPA) of the IGP’ welfare scheme 

Presenting the cheques, the Commissioner said, “the scheme  is geared towards providing succor for the families of deceased Police personnel, and to also cater for the medical treatment expenses of the injured policemen in the line of duty.”

In another development, the commissioner decorated 513 junior cadre of the force recently promoted by the IGP. 

The decorated policemen include 351 Sergeant promoted to the rank of Inspector and 162 Constable promoted to rank of Corporal.
