Niger releases N869m for textbooks, others

Niger state government has released N869.2m for the procurement of science equipment, furniture, textbooks and other learning and teaching materials for selected secondary schools in the state.
The state Commissioner of Education, Hajiya Fatima Madugu, stated this while briefing newsmen after the State Executive Council meeting.
She explained that N655, 106,745 of the amount would be spent on the procurement of textbooks, solar energy to .power electricity for nine schools, while the remaining N214, 143,810 would be spent on science equipment, isolators and textbooks for another set of schools captured in government school development approach.
She explained that the benefitting schools were selected from across the three senatorial districts of the state, adding that provisions have been made in the 2017 budget for complete turnaround renovation of technical schools in the state.
