…Niger youths laud lawmakers over Bill

North Central Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Youth Council (NYC), Comrade Mohammed A. Mohammed, and the Niger state chairman of the Council, Abdullahi Muregi, have saluted the 8th Senate for the passage of the bill for the establishment of the Nigeria Peace Corps, describing it as “a commendable step towards the development of the nation’s youths.”

Th e Council leaders said this yesterday in Minna at the Nigeria Peace Corps state headquarters while celebrating the passage of the bill with offi cers and cadets of the Corps. Mohammed, in his remark, said the nation’s youths were convinced that the leadership of the Senate was working for the interest of the nation by building the youth. He said the passage of the Peace Corps Bill was a dream fulfi lled for Nigeria youths, advising that they continue to ensure peace and harmony of the country by shunning violence.

He expressed appreciation to the role played by Senator David Umaru in the smooth passage of the bill, adding that “as young people we are committed to remain as partners in building the nation.” Also speaking, the Niger state chairman of the Council, Abdullahi Muregi, said the passage of the bill had opened a new chapter in shaping the future of the youth. He said the state government had already collected over 2, 000 application forms for the recruitment of Niger youths into the Corps. Niger state Commandant of the Corps, Ibrahim Aliyu, in a remark, prayed for the quick recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari to enable him sign the bill into law
