Speaking in its diamond jubilee independence anniversary message to Nigerians on Thursday, Managing Director/CEO of Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, Engr. Abubakar Gambo Umar, said despite all the challenges, Nigeria still has the potential to be among the top countries in the world, and to thrust Nigerians among some of the greatest in the world.

“The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation wishes Nigeria a happy Independence day celebration. At the diamond age of 60, the country has everything to celebrate.

“Despite all the challenges that come with nation building, we have a lot of achievements to showcase. To a large extent, we have used our diversity, size and resources to project a strong, united nation with promise of growth.

“It is however imperative to note that the country is in its trying times, facing challenging issues of banditry, Boko Haram insurgency, kidnappings, unemployment, economic downturn, environmental disasters, COVID- 19 and other health problems.

“Therefore our leaders at all levels should step up efforts to confront these challenges and restore hope to the ordinary Nigerian. The nation’s policy makers and implementers should strive towards the improvement  of the quality of lives of citizens by aiming to attain the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals within the shortest possible time.

“The Foundation strongly believes that with our abundant human and natural resources, Nigeria can attain her desired goal of development if systematic, coordinated steps are taken towards growth.

“We salute the resilience and steadfastness of all Nigerians, hoping that the next phase of our national life will be much better for all of us. A strong, united and prosperous nation is what our founding fathers like the late Sir Ahmadu Bello and his contemporaries would have wished to see Nigeria become.”
