A group, the Nigerian Law Students Association (LAWSAN) Wednesday tasked youths in the country to wake up and take their place of leadership in politics, law, business, environment and sciences.
National President of LAWSAN, Dr Blessing Agbomhere, gave the advice while giving an address to mark this year’s October 1st Independence Anniversary.
Agbomhere noted in a statement that Nigeria “needs the energy, creativity and innovative abilities of the youths to move from the third world to a first world nation, saying “If we don’t do it, no one will do it”.
“We the youths are the ‘origo’ fortress that can guarantee a new Nigeria; we must rise up to the challenge of uniting and developing our nation, just the way our fathers rose up to demand for the independence of Nigeria in 1960.
“We are working hard to reposition LAWSAN as the second most intelligent and erudite body after the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and have commenced several projects to bring LAWSAN to the limelight and put it in a position to fill the leadership lacuna in Nigeria”
“Wake up Lawsanites, Wake up Nigerian Youths; its either you lead this Nation, or this Nation will leave you”
“This is also an opportunity to remember and acknowledge the labour and efforts of our heroes past and great leaders who put their lives on the line so you and I can celebrate today” Agbomhere stated.
The LAWSAN President thereafter charged members across Nigerian Universities to seek knowledge, engage in good governance and advocacy in order to combat corruption and all forms of abuses for a better Nigeria.
