Nigeria seeks ICT partnership with N’Korea

 

Nigeria is to enhance existing cooperation with North Korea in Space and Information Technology for the mutual benefits of both nations.

Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, gave the hint when the Ambassador of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in Nigeria, Mr.Jon Tong Chol paid him a courtesy call recently in Abuja.

North Korea, the minister added, had made giant strides in science and technology, which could be of great benefits to Nigeria.

Onu praised the country for its self-reliance made possible through massive investment in Science and technology.’

Nigeria, he said, was now according science and technology its due recognition, adding that the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (2017-2020) was being driven by science and technology.

He said that the Ministry is committed to effective and efficient utilisation of science and technology application to convert the enormous resources into products and services through a knowledge and innovation driven economy.

Earlier, Ambassador Jon Tong Chol said that Nigeria was well placed to explore development in science and technology for her development.
He lauded Nigeria’s leading role in the sub region and called for more bilateral relations between the two countries.

North Korea, he added, could afford to rub shoulder with developed nations because it had developed her own satellite, nuclear and information technology to the maximum.
