Nigeria to emulate Brazil, Mauritius in modern sugar technology

In a bid to achieve optimum industrial and domestic use of sugar, the federal government says it has set machineries  in motion to diversify to ethanol energy production through modern sugar technology.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Richard Adeniyi Adebayo said this development will also supports investors and other key players in the nation’s sugar industry.

Adebayo made the promise in Abuja on Thursday, when the management of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC) led by its Executive Secretary, Dr Latif Busari briefed him on development in the sector.

According to him, the Buhari administration had done a lot in the area of agriculture and non-oil sectors, stressing that sugar sufficiency would further support such initiatives.

The minister said government would also ensure full implementation of the ten-year national sugar master-plan adopted in 2012.
