Those who seek medical treatments from India and Western countries now have a world-class hospital to run to in Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan has said.
Jonathan said this while commissioning the Nigeria-Turkish Nizamiye Hospital, in Abuja.
“No doubt, the state-of-the-art medical diagnostic equipment available at this hospital, will meet the needs of those who may have had to travel outside the country for such care,” he said.
“I would like to congratulate the Management Board of Nigeria-Turkish Nizamiye Hospital for this noble project, which represents a significant investment in our health sector.
“Undoubtedly, Private Sector initiatives such as this hospital, will help Government’s efforts to halt the enormous capital flight arising from increased medical tourism, and the avoidable stress experienced by Nigerians on such missions.
“Once again, I congratulate the Management Board of Nigeria-Turkish Nizamiye Hospital for this laudable project, that I believe will also help consolidate and sustain progress in Turkey and Nigeria relationship,” he added.
A statement issued by its spokeperson, Mr. Cemal Yiğit, also quoted FCT Minister Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed as saying: “The Turkish group has done so much in FCT, in the areas of education they have opened a new Nile Turkish university during my tenure and their secondary schools are also growing. They have shown that they are veritable partners.”
