Nigerian diplomat’s ‘killer’ arrested

The alleged killer of Nigeria’s immigration attaché, Habibu Almu, has been arrested. A statement issued yesterday by the spokesman of the Foreign Affairs ministry, Dr. Tope EliaFatile, said the alleged murderer is a Sudanese woman of Nigerian origin. The suspect, allegedly a student of Sudanese-Canadian College, murdered the attaché on Thursday, last week.

She was arrested and currently being detained by a Sudanese security agency, the spokesman said. The statement read in part: “After several arrests and investigations by the host authorities, it was established that the deceased was stabbed to death by one Miss Inas Khalid Maikano. “The suspect, who is a student of Sudanese-Canadian College in Khartoum, is a Sudanese of Nigerian origin. It was discovered during investigations that the suspect had stolen some of the deceased’s personal belongings including cash.

” Elia-Fatile added that that “our Mission in Khartoum will continue to monitor and follow up the case to ensure that justice is done on this matter.” He said the process of conveying the remains of the late Almu to Nigeria for proper burial was being finalised.
