Nigerian SMEs showcase products at China Fair

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria SMEDAN has taken the ‘Buy Made in Nigeria Campaign’ to China with its
attendance at the just concluded China International SME Fair (CISMEF). 26 Nigerian Micro Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) showcased over 40 different Nigerian products at the global fair.
Over 300 SMEs from various countries participated at the international expo. The Nigeria Pavilion was a beehive of activities as all through the duration of the fair, an average of 300 visitors engages the Nigerian officials and exhibitors on a daily basis on business opportunities and investment in the country. Products exhibited by Nigerian MSMEs at the fair include textiles, agricultural products, general products and leather products.
The Nigerian delegation was led by The Director-General of SMEDAN,
Dikko Umaru Radda, who participated and made presentations on the state of MSMEs in Nigeria in two major events. The SMEs Cross Business Matchmaking Activity and the Guangdong Tour Belt and Road Campaign.
In an interview with newsmen on arrival from China, Radda commended the performance of the Nigeria exhibitors who actually came out to showcase what we have in Nigeria to the global community. “As you are aware we are here to showcase Made in Nigeria goods to the world through CISMEF”.
Dr. Radda added that through this expo, we were able to match make some of our SMEs with other investors and similar SMEs who are in China for the world exhibition. He said the results would surly come as in matchmaking the results are not immediate, but at least a business channel has been opened and this is good for Nigerian MSMEs.
SMEDAN also interfaced with several major international organizations uch as United Nations International Development Organization (UNIDO) commercial representatives of several countries that attended the fair as well as organizers of the China Small and Medium Enterprises Fair, CISMEF where issues of mutual interest were discussed with a view to signing Memorandum of Understandings in future.
