Nigerian youths should take up leadership – Ogbole

Lialian Ene Ogbole is the President One Adult, One Youth (OAOY), advocacy group, She is the first to voice out on behalf of all youths on the need to effect in leadership, BINTA SHAMA reports
Break of new dawn…
There are women who have fought actively in this game from time past for same folks like themselves. Why this is different is because our kind of innovation has to do with both male and female hitting on the youth to come out and be part of the happenings in the country.
My team and I are patriot, we need to bring ourselves together constructively to project for the interest of the movement. We have all it takes to get there, we have natural deposit, a civil and great society. We have the human capacity and power will never be a problem because we have smart youths.
The problem lies with elites, the leaders. Why do we still have same group of people leading Nigeria or having a say in leadership. They cannot continue to be in the circular of power.
Common sense should make us try new set of people not abandoning our present and past leaders. We are moving on an unprecedented speed.

Why the sudden flair for this movement?
Nigeria needs an urgent intervention or I rather say it’s an emergency. Nigeria is falling in every part of the economy, in naira, monies recovered cannot be accounted for nor know what it is used for.
If we continue like this, they will leave us in perpetual poverty and our children in hopeless, they cannot even give account of missing funds neither leave what they have in accounts for follow-up. By the time this monies are recovered, Nigeria will be transformed into a better and greater nation. Comparing Dubai for instance, it has become purposeful under few years because of focused leadership. This is a delinquent attempt by our elites to perpetually impoverish the people so they can continue from where they stopped to leave us as slaves forever. All we have in Nigeria is enough for us forever but they have deliberately refused to utilise them. So that we all can be impoverished and be at their beck and call.

Any future goals concerning the
movements?
We are not leaving any stone unturned nor be retarded by any force to bring us down. We are determined to change Nigeria, we are indoctrinating ourselves to believe and support in ourselves unconditionally. We need to be taken along, it is either they carry us along or we do it ourselves.
Power is not given but taken in a civil approach, if youths constitute 80percent of the population then we have alot of power we need to sensitize, modernise, across the board ourselves for the need of youth inclusiveness in leadership.

How far will you go to achieve this dream?

We will go to every length to achieve our aim aside going against the law, unethical, uncivil. We will go from door to door, place to place, as in to every nook and crannies of Nigeria where need be to preach one adult, one youth advocacy. I will ensure that it is carried out.
Being a female does not stop me from achieving my dream. You need to create space simultaneously to achieve your dream, as human you define things from onset to know what exactly you want to do. For me personally, I love to impact people positively, reach out to the general man on the streets, leave a mark where necessary and contribute my own quarter.

What do you stand to gain in all this?
One thing bugging the minds of many Nigerians now is youth’s restiveness in different forms, Boko Haram, militancy. This has been due to lack of good leadership and if well addressed, all of this will be put in place. My desire now is to see real and truthful people installed in government that will recreate a better Nigeria for us and give opportunity to youths to run because youths know themselves, what they want, how they want it and can either be cautioned and corrected unlike having an older person out there whom if deviating from his responsibilities one will need to rehears speeches before hand to avoid stepping on toes. They should stop constituting the movement for us and be at the background to give advice and stop imposing their ideologies and also have stop have a limit to remain as elders state men.

Mentorship in Nigeria
Our group is into proper mentoring; when you are mentored you will do well as expected and taught. Such youth will be brought to order if distracted and put through but where he lacks mentoring you can expect anything from him like the frivolities we find today. Our fight is to see our youth recognised and respected in the law making of the country because we have been turned off from leadership.
Nigeria has never had the tradition or culture of mentoring people into leadership. For instance former President Jonathan Goodluck being a former lecturer, luck brought him to presidency without any form of mentoring where he was principled to lead various people both experienced and unexperienced, older and younger persons respectively which cost him his office and I believe many have learnt from his mistakes and will forever avoid such from reoccurring.

The movement entails money, how do you go about it?
Yes, it will shock you to know that every participant or persons involved are financial contributory factors to achieving this goal. If you remember our last meeting, no money was shared to anyone not even the press to fly the news based on the fact of no sponsors and yet the story has been in the air even as I am speaking to you, everyone involved is doing it for interests and passion. Nigerians are fed up and are craving for a positive and geuine change.

Message for the young and old…
We have had it being ruled by same set of persons with same kind of mindsets for decades. We as youths should come out in mass and support one another to achieve this goal. For how long will we be fooled? The good of the land belongs to every single one of us. What we see is competent and selfish stealing across board, it is time we stopped the foolishness and take the bull by the horn. If we continue like this we will end up to total foolishness and uselessness of oneself. We have over 140m people and cannot afford to continue like a vissionless nation, we need a way forward. When a youth knows another youth should do, there won’t be an element of fear.
