Kano-based political activist, Comrade Auwal Abdullahi Rafinkuka, has claimed that Nigeria’s democracy was in dire need of serious fine-tuning to correct systemic failure.
The activist said the lapses were largely responsible for the lack of internal democracy in all the political parties and ultimately the absence of the dividends of democracy.
Also, Rafinkuka urged all political office holders to match their words with action by endeavouring to fulfil their campaign promises thereby ensuring that the electorate do not regret their choice.
According to him, all that democracy entails was service delivery, but regretted that the present democratic dispensation was yet to achieve, noting that it was necessary therefore to reposition democracy by adopting a pragmatic approach to it.
He said he was in politics to prove change the fortunes of the electorate who over the years have been taken for a ride by the political class. He said he would through the struggle prove to everyone that the youths have the potentials to shape the political destiny of the nation.
Rafinkuka, who expressed his intention to contest for the Kumbotso Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, said he would continue his contribution to the development of education and other notable areas of human endeavour in his constituency.
Further, the Peoples Democratic Party member disclosed his readiness to cooperate with other willing politicians to serve humanity irrespective of one’s ideological leaning.
