Nigeria’s only Ref passes fitness test as CAF Women’s Champions League kicks off October 30

With few days to the start of the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League, Nigerian top Referee Ndidi Madu has passed the mandatory fitness and medical test in Rabat, ahead of the competition.

Madu, is making a consecutive appearance at the tournament after she made a fantastic performance last year in Egypt and remains the sole representative from Nigeria.

The Referees revealed by CAF were selected from 23 countries, giving a good spread across the continent.

Madu, made history at the last Women Africa Cup Of Nations in Morocco, where she became the first Nigerian to experience and apply the VAR in a competitive encounter.

The tournament scheduled from October 30 to 13 November, 2022 in the cities of Rabat and Marrakech, will see the technical contribution of 10 referees, 12 assistant referees and seven video referees.

On the opening day of the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League, two matches will take place at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat.

Green Buffaloes FC of Zambia will play Determine Girls FC of Liberia, followed by hosts ASFAR of Morocco against Simba Queens SC of Tanzania.

Nigerian Champion Bayelsa Queens will play on Monday October 31 against defending Champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.

The final of the tournament will take place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

Meanwhile, the group opponent of Nigeria’s champions Bayelsa Queens, Mamelodi Sundowns have arrived in Morocco.

The newly crowned champions of the Hollywood Super League in South Africa touched down in Casablanca on Friday afternoon and their coach Jerry Tshabalala is already talking tough.

“From a psychological standpoint, we are very excited that we won the league before switching our attention to the biggest stage.

“We are here in high spirits because we have achieved one of our objectives this season which was to retain our dominance in South African football.
We enjoyed a similar occurrence last year when we won the league before traveling to Egypt”, he said.

Sundowns Ladies will begin their defense of the continental title with a mouth-watering clash against Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens in their opening game on the 31st of October 2022.
