Nigeria’s strength in population not oil – Isreal Envoy

The current Deputy Chief de Mission at the Embassy of Israel in Nigeria Mr. Nadav Goren has said the power behind the nation’s economy is in the population and not the conventional oil sector.

Goren dropped the hint during Journalists’ round table/ farewell and introduction meeting in the Israel Embassy in Abuja.

“Nigeria’s resource isn’t oil but the people. In present times, you find youths that want to move the country forward.

“The arrival of the incoming Deputy Chief de Mission would be an opportunity to move from the regular diplomacy to reaching out to the Nigerian public diversity,” he said.

He said the embassy is running an online Bible quiz around the 36 states in the country in an effort to relate with many Nigerians.

According to him, “We are in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Israel and an Organisation of Christians for Israel. It will run through the six regions including the federal capital territory, making it seven.

“The top three people would be graced by the Israeli Prime Minister and they will be given the opportunity to go with Israel.”

Earlier, the Isreali Ambassador to Nigeria Mr. Shimon Ben-shoshan said the desire of the embassy was to bring the culture of the Nigerian people and the Israelis.

He said, “We are filling peace and facing how to tackle challenges by maintaining the power of the region to remain economically and politically strong because its the only option left for us.

“Our desire is to see that the Nigerian government work in unity alongside the Israeli country. We have been involved in the infrastructure with the country for a long time. For instance we recently signed an MoU with NAFDAC to help the Israeli company to come in with pharmaceutical products not only to do business but to create jobs for Nigerians.”
