NIN enrolment: NIMC designates more centres for Abuja


As complaints continue to mount over massive crowd of Nigerians seeking to register and obtain the National Identity Number ((NIN), at the Abuja headquarters of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), the agency has created more enrolment centres in the nation’s capital.

The deadline for Nigerians to link their respective unique NINs to their mobile telephone numbers as ordered by the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), or risk disconnection had forced the yet to be enrolled citizens to crowd NIMC’s  registration centres across the country, with Abuja as one of the worst hot.

In an apparent response to widespread concerns over the development, especially in the wake of the second wave of covid-19 spread, the Commission in a memo obtained by the Blueprint on Wednesday, announced more enrolment centres for Abuja.

To serve as state office for the FCT, the NIMC gave the address. 2nd floor, Block C, No. 4, Maputo Street, Zone 3, Wuse Abuja, while for the Area Councils, Abaji’s enrolment centre is at the legislative section of the council’s secretariat, and for AMAC; its secretariat annex at Kabusa Junction, Apo, has been designated as enrolment centre.

Also, for those within Bwari, they are to be enrolled at the Area Council Complex, Bwari, while those in Gwagwalada are to visit the CPB Building, old Secretariat, Gwagwalada and those in Kwali will be attended to at the Kwali Council Secreyariat, as Opposite Forest, Pasai has been designated as enrolment centre for those n Kuje.

The Commission also designated special centres as follows; Dei-Dei; beside Diamond Bank, Building Material International Market, Duste; Dutse Alhaji-Abuja, FHA Gwarimpa; FHA Water Board, Beside Polce Station, Off 3rd Avenue, Lugbe; By Police Signborad, Near Lugbe Market, Airport Road, Abuja, and Jiwa; AEDC Office before Emire’s palace.

Other include Karshi; Women Development Secreyariat, Karshi, Jikowyi; Kenuj Angels School, Phase 1 Extension, Jikwoyi, that for Kurudu is at Chief’s Palace, Kurudu, Karu has Beside Customs Hospital, Karu Site, Abuja while Kubwa has NIPOST office, Phase 4, Kubwa as the designated centre.

The Commission further added that three private agents have been licensed  to complement its efforts, and they were located at; Ibro Hotel, 34-6, Sokode Street, Wuse Zone 2, Abuja,  No. 8, Nairobi Street, Wuse 2, Abuja and Gwandal Plaza, Adjacent EFCC Headquarters, Wuse 2, Abuja.
