The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the National Information Technology Department Agency (NITDA) in partnership with Aiivon Innovation Hub has called on Nigerian youths to get involved solving issues through the application of software, hardware and other technologies.
Representative of JICA Nigeria office, Mr. Shohei Sato, at the launching of ‘Next Innovation with Japan (NINJA) Startup Gateway’ project in Nigeria in Abuja, Wednesday, said the initiative is aimed at supporting youths to develop innovative projects, promote entrepreneurship and solve local problems through technology.
Sato further said that the turnout of youths for the programme would determine the speed in carrying out the exercise in other parts of the country, adding that the actual age of those participating ranges between18 and 35 years.
Earlier, Manager of Aiivon, Mr. Ama Ase, said the NINJA Startup Gateway that will be organised in Abuja would encourage Nigerian youths to find ways to solve local problems using technological innovations.
According to him, participants will enter the programme by developing a scalable product to solve prominent issues within their community, establishing the company legally incorporated by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria and starting their businesses.
Also speaking, the representative of the Director General NITDA, Mr. Oguntade Oladapo Adeseye, said NINJA Startup Gateway doesn’t only create profitable and sustainable business, but also allows for the creation of jobs and several opportunities for the youths.
The Founder/CEO Aiivon Attach Samson Igoche explained that it will contribute significantly to economic growth as well as employment nationwide.
