NITDA trains journalists on ICT reporting

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has organised a training workshop for journalists to enhance their capacity on ICT reporting.
The 3-day exercise which is organised inline with the Agency’s mandate is expected to focus on the challenges of reporting information communication technology in a digital age.
Director General of NITDA, Mr. Peter Jack while declaring the event open yesterday in Abuja, describe the media as key partner in the development of ICT which is the reason why the the workshop is being organise to help them facilitate this growth in the sector.
Respresented by Dr. Vincent Olatunji, the DG said ICT knowledge has become necessary to development of modern economy, therefore urged the participants to take advantage of the workshop so as to achieve its objective.
‘’This is an opportunity that others pay for,’’ Mr. Jack said. “But we are offering it to you free of charge because its part of our social responsibility.”
Facilitator of the training, Charles Ozoemenaluaded the agency for putting up such initiative for the media, saying the capacity workshop would immensely contribute to both personal and overall development of ICT in Nigeria.
Participants who spoke at the event recounted their experiences and challenges on ICT reporing, and said the training would further enhance their capacity on information sharing in a digital age.
Gloria Ogbaki, a participant and staff of DAAR Communications said: “I am happy and look forward to more of these kind of programmes in the future.”
Over 50 journalists were in attendance, shared knowledge and network during the workshop to foster relation among participants.
