National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has commenced training of 100 women in the North central zone through it’s the fourth consecutive zonal capacity building programme and training for women.
The programme was geared towards boosting women productivity through application of Information Communication Technology (ICT) tools to enhance their businesses and broaden their entrepreneurship skills.
NITDA director-general, Abdullahi Kashifu stated that the programme for south south and south east zones would be conducted before end of the fourth quarter of 2020. He noted that, the programme has been held in, Gombe state for the northeast zone, Ekiti State for the Southwest zone and Jigawa state for the Northwest zone.
He stated the training was part of efforts to bridge gender inequality in ICT related ventures, further empower women to be more productive and contribute to the economic growth of the country.
Nasarawa state governor, Abdullahi Sule while declaring the programme open at the Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafiya noted that it had become necessary for the state to move its economy from solid minerals resources to ICT and knowledge-based economy.
Participants were drawn from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Niger, Plateau, Kogi, Kwara, Benue and Nasarawa states.
