NITDA unveils hub to tackle cyber crimes

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has commissioned the Computer Emergency Readiness and Response Team (CERTT.ng) ecosystem to mark the turning point in the fight against cyber crime in Nigeria.

Acting Director-General of the agency, Dr. Ashiru Daura told journalists briefly after the commissioning in Abuja that the hub will also create employment for the teeming youths and encourage the establishment of an institutionalised body to superintend over

cyber security issues across the country.
“The CERTT.ng Ecosystem is established by NITDA with the goal of being a trusted intermediary organisation dedicated to providing ‘support’ in responding to computer, network and related cyber security incidents by building National readiness through fostering the development of sectorial Computer Emergency Response Teams,” Dr. Daura said.

According to him, the CERRT.ng ecosystem has developed cyber security policies, strategies and standards to continually identify existing and potential computer related threats.
Furthermore, the NITDA’s boss added that the hub will also notify as appropriate, build capacities, develop the requisite readiness processes, coordinate response, build relationships and liaise as needed with similar incident response teams locally and across the world.
