NITT, INGOSphere9ja sign MoU on driving techniques

The Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) Zaria and INGOSphere9ja have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at fostering logistics training and professional driver education for NGO’s in Nigeria.

This is contained in a statement by the Institute’s spokesman, Mr Thomas Francis and made available to Blueprint in Zaria on Thursday.

The statement reads in part:  “The MoU, which is expected to drive the NGO sector in the country to desired standard level of practice was signed Wednesday concurrently with activities at the 3-day National Data Bank Workshop organised by the Institute in Abuja.

“INGOSphere9ja is the training arm of the Centre for Aid, Information and Knowledge with international partnership in the UK and the United states.

“The partnership will greatly help the Nigerian NGO sector to develop the required capacity in the core areas of logistics transport management and professionalise the drivers/logistics assistant cadre in the manner that will promote the efficiency of the NGO’s and the attractiveness of candidates who may wish to seek job in the NGO sector.”

In her remarks, the representative of INGOSphere9ja, Mrs Grace Uadia, expressed delight at the partnership, saying the partnership will make NITT training programmes in relevant areas more available and accessible to employees of local and international NGOs.

Uadia further said that NGOs in Nigeria are at the moment overwhelmed by numerous activities and challenging situations across the country that call for greater levels of training by NITT.

“She also urged the Institute to take advantage of the partnership to understand the critical areas of training needs in the sector and develop specific tailor made courses that would help address the capacity gaps in the identified areas.
