NJI seeks measures to cushion recession effects on judiciary

Administrator of the National Judicial Institute, Justice Rosaline P.I Bosimo, yesterday, called for measures to cushion the eff ect of economic recession on the judiciary. Justice Bozimo made the call while fl agging-off a National Workshop for Directors of Finance, Internal Auditors and other Financial Offi cers in the Judiciary, at the National Judicial Institute, NJI headquarters in Abuja.

Th e theme of the workshop is “Prudent Management of Judicial Resources in the Face of Economic Recession.” Participants at the workshop were selected from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Declaring the event open, she said that there was need for those who she identifi ed as “fi nancial gatekeepers” in the Judiciary to generate pragmatic solutions towards achieving better management of resources allocated to the Justice sector.

“Measures must be put in place that will cushion the eff ect of the economic recession in the Judiciary as well. “All hands must be put in deck to ensure that fi nancial managers and offi cers entrusted with the management of public funds are trained in the new and best practices of management o resources so as to perform their duties optimally. “Your actions or inactions can aff ect the smooth running of the court’s and the judicial system as a whole,” she said.

“I, therefore, urge you to imbibe integrity, probity, transparency and shun all forms of corruption in the discharge of your duties. “I believe that this workshop will generate pragmatic solutions towards achieving better management of the resources available to the Judiciary during this time of economic recession.”
