NLO urges private organisations to invest in league

The Chief Operating Officer of the Nationwide League One (NLO), Olushola Ogunnowo, on Tuesday in Abuja, urged private organisations to invest in  the League.

Ogunnowo said that the major problem facing the league was the issue of sponsorship.

“The only challenge that has always be on ground is financing the league and as it is now,  we are still managing without finances.

“Finance is the major problem we have now, the clubs understand it, and they’ve been the ones paying all the bills for now, they understand that the challenges are high.

“It is not only our league, even in the top league of the country, they have no specific sponsors as it is and even in the professional league too,” he said.

He said that the NLO would continue to strive to improve on the standards of the league.

“We are trying our best to improve on what we have but in one or two years time, we should be able to get some sponsors; with time, we should be able to have a reasonable source of sponsorship.

“We will try to go into live streaming of matches to boost the image of the league and possibly enhance marketing for the league.

He disclosed that the NLO had started showing live matches of the league.

“We will be having no fewer than 16 matches every week throughout the country and all will be on live streaming, so it is a good step for the league to improve and a good step to develop,’’ he said.

He said 90 clubs were participating in the ongoing 2019 Nationwide League One.(NAN)
