Nnamani begins campaign for Enugu East senatorial seat

The PDP senatorial candidate for Enugu East senatorial district, Dr Chimaroke Nnamani, yesterday embarked on aggressive campaign aimed at seeing him through  to the upper legislative chambers at the February 16 general elections.

The former governor and one time senator representing Enugu East, took a tour of the major streets of the state with his admirers chanting,

“Chimaroke, Ebeano, Chimaroke, Ebeano,” as he went on foot  acknowledging cheers from well wishers.

While the trekking was meant to endear himself to the electorate, it could be a sign that he is fit for the race against the speculation that he was sick overseas and may not be fit to run.

On his entourage during the rally included the House of Reps candidate for Nkanu East and West, Hon. Nnoli Nnaji; the House of Reps candidate for Enugu North and Enugu South Constituency, Hon. Offor Chukwuegbo and Enugu South House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Sam Ngene.

All the people on his entourage were old Ebeano boys, as they are called, who held one political office or the other.

Nnamani is believed to be the man to beat as he contested the position on two occasions, 2011 and 2015 and lost to the incumbent, Senator Gil Emeka Nnaji, who is also a beneficiary of Ebeano.

This time around, he is believed to have gotten the nod from Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and looks good to win the senatorial election.

The crowd that poured out to hail him demonstrated a clear testimony that Nnamani is a man of the people and probably their preferred candidate for the Enugu East senatorial election come February.
