NNDC, Haske coy sign MOU on agric devt

New Nigeria Development Company (NNDC) has signed strategic alliance agreement with Haske and Williams Limited to identify, develop and implement agriculture opportunities in Northern Nigeria. Speaking while signing the agreement at the company’s headquarters in Kaduna, NNDC Chairman, Alhaji Waziri Dalhatu said they are practicalising the expression of interest of the “companies that answered the call for reinvestment in agric sector and reinforcement of efforts in massive production of agric produce to hold the provision of massive employment, good and domestic efforts and needs. “After lots of discussions with many companies that have indicated interest we have fi nally selected Haske and Williams Limited to be our partners after various meetings and visitations.

“We have seen their efforts; the company has a large rice integrated farm in Adamawa state, and integrated cassava production project in Kaima, Kwara state, they are also in Taraba state, we believe they are the correct partners of NNDC to embark on this journey.” The NNDC Chairman however assured the governors and people of Northern Nigeria that they would not disappoint them. “We are not going to fail our owners, we are not going to fail our people and we will not fail Northern Nigeria.” Also speaking, Chairman of Haske and Williams Limited, Alhaji Abdullahi Bashir Haske since the emergence of the company two years ago it has sought opportunities like this to contribute to the development of agriculture in the North and in Nigeria.

“We have been thinking of how to do something very important in the Northern part of Nigeria. When you fly, you see land, water in some places and they tell you we still import some things it is very sad. I promise we would make you proud, we will never let you down.” The CEO of Haske and Williams Limited, Mr Oladipo Williams, in his remarks, said the company “is an emerging player in Nigeria agriculture sector. We took the challenge of making agriculture the hub of our operation two years ago. We have three subsidiaries and three key projects ongoing in Taraba, Adamawa and Kwara states.
