NNL: Kogi United smashes Kaduna United

Kogi United kick started their restart to the Nigeria National League, NNL season in a resounding fashion as they tore apart Kaduna United with a 4-1 victory on Saturday.
A brace from Mayaki Ismail and goal each from John Jerome and Kingsley Iwuji coupled with a cheerful performance ensured that the Wada Boys have got their confidence back.

The encounter that witnessed close to a full capacity crown at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja was the Coach Fatai Osho’s acid test in his return to dugout for Kogi United and he commended his boys for giving him and the fans a wonderful performance with a reliving victory over Kaduna United.

Coach Osho who disclosed that the victory was a message that the Confluence state club are still a force to reckon with in this season’s NNL noted that the extended time to resume the second round of the league assisted in getting the better rhythm from the boys just as he expressed hope and confidence in his side’s quest to build on Saturday’s performance as the season progresses.

“We thank God and happy for the wonderful performance and victory, I’m really impressed with the game, I was expecting this but I never expected it will be up to that margin(4-1), I feel very excited,” Osho begins.

“I think the additional extension for the league to resume really helped and assisted us to prepare really well for this game, the team is a complete team, kudos to the former coach as he has done a fantastic job, we’ve made a few adjustment needed,”  and I think we are ready to challenge for more for greatness, we hope to build on this victory in our next match (at Spotlight),” he said.
A member of Kaduna United technical crew, Coach Dalhatu Muhammed admitted that the Wada Boys were the better side of the encounter adding that his side were lucky not to have conceded more.

“Kudos to Kogi United were the better side today, I give it to them, they really played better, got their chances right, we were lucky because they could have scored more as our boys are down psychologically and morally, but we hope to get out of this if we get the right support from the present government of kaduna state,” Mohammed said.
Kogi United have however garnered 9 points and will next make a trip to Katsina to face Spotlight FC on Saturday.
