NNPC corruption allegation rattles APC, spokesman declines comment




The ruling All Progressives Congress () has declined to comment on the allegation of leveled against the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation () Dr. Maikanti by the Minister of state for Petroleum Resources Dr. Emmanuel Ibe .

Recall that the ruling party had always accused the opposition People Democratic Party (PDP) and its appointees of being corrupt.

One of the government appointee, Minister of state for Petroleum Resources had recently accused the GMD of insubordination and act in a letter he sent to President Muhammadu , which he claimed to have been leaked without his knowledge.

, according to the letter accused the GMD of awarding $25 billion contract without following due process, adding that neglected the board, which he () is the chairman in awarding contract and making appointment at the Corporation.

But when contacted for comment on the development Thursday in Abuja, the National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, refused to speak to press on the allegation rocking the APC led government.

Abdullahi simply said, “we can’t comment on that now. In fact we have no comment on it.”

Meanwhile a senior official of the party who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that the party was embarrassed by the development.

“What do expect our spokesman to tell you about this matter? Some of these appointees are too strong for this party, in fact, the party leaders didn’t know some of them before they were appointed,” he confessed.
