Th e Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has assured consumers of petroleum products in the North that it is working assiduously to reopen four depots in the area. Th e corporation’s Group Managing Director, Dr. Maikanti Kacalla Baru, said while commissioning the Kano depot, noting that it plans to improve petroleum products supply to the Northern part of the country. “Eff orts are underway to recommission other national assets such as the Jos, Gombe, Suleja and Gusau depots.

Also, the remaining parts of Mosimi-Ibadan-Ilorin as well as AbaEnugu pipelines will soon test our collective resolve to get the nation’s critical oil and gas infrastructure back on stream,” Baru said. Th e GMD assured that the re-commissioning of rehabilitated depots is strategic as it would further boost products supply therefore ensuring that consumers have adequate availability of petroleum products. Dr. Baru noted that the exercise is one of the several strides embarked upon by NNPC under its 12 Business Focus Areas (12BUFA) Programme aimed at repositioning the corporation towards sustained profi tability. According to him, the corporation has spent about N1.6billion, from January-December 2016, to secure and maintain the vandalized points of the Kaduna-Kano pipeline, a development that has huge implications on the corporation’s operations.

Further, he disclosed that the NNPC has over the last few months re-commissioned the Port HarcourtAba as well as Atlas Cove-Mosimi pipelines, adding that the corporation would not relent until all pipeline networks in the country are back on stream
