The FCT Police Command has said that there was no assault on Lokogoma residents contrary to information making the rounds in the social media.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command DSP Anjuguri Manzah in a press statement, Sunday in Abuja, said: “The FCT Police command wishes to unequivocally refute and declare as unsubstantiated the claims by one Chidi Calli, on his Facebook page, that residents of Lokogoma were attacked in their homes by some bandits.
“Following the trending post, the Command promptly deployed its team of detectives not only to ascertain the claim but to gather the information that will possibly lead to the arrest of the perpetrators and strengthening of security in the area with a view to forestall a recurrence.
“Despite all the checks carried out by the police to substantiate the claims, no report has so far been received about such an incident in Lokogoma or its adjourning settlements. Interestingly, no victim or victims have been linked to the purported attack.”
While reassuring FCT residents of the command’s commitment to protect lives and property and to forestall any act that could result in the breakdown of law and order in the territory, advised members of the public especially social media users to always verify the information before circulating them.
This, he said would help to avoid unnecessary tension with the territory and environs.
