No faction in Abia APGA – Ehiemere

Abia state chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA) Rev Augustine Ehiemere has  refuted allegation the party is divided, stressing that that there is no faction in Abia chapter of APGA and indeed at the national level.

Ehiemere said Saturday in Umuahia in response to a statement credited to a group loyal to the party’s governorship candidate in the 2019 polls, Alex Otti. He said the group’s claim that its members were duly elected members of the party in Abia was not true.

Ehiemere dismissed allegation of the existence of a pararrel faction which the group led by Hon Nkem Okoro of the Dr Alex Otti’s Abia First had claimed.

“There is no faction in Abia APGA and in Nigeria as a whole as purported by Okoro that the faction of Dr Alex Otti which was his political structure for 2015/2019 governorship elections cannot be equated to the leadership of the party in the state.”

Ehiemere maintained that he remains the authentic chairman of the APGA with his State Working Committee ( SWC) members who emerged in a transparent congress supervised by INEC and “therefore, any other group parading itself in Abia state is fake and should be discountenanced”.

He called on Nigerians to be wary of the antics of Dr Otti’ group, saying that its members are deceiving the public with a non-existent faction.

In a related development, the State Secretary of Abia APGA, Elder Sunday Onukwubiri, also dismissed the leadership tussle in Abia APGA insisting that the party is united under Rev Ehiemere at the state level while Ozomkpu Victor Ike Oye is the undisputed national chairman.

Elder Onukwubiri insisted that the governorship candidate of the party for 2015/ 2019 elections Otti remains suspended by the party because of his anti party activities, adding that if he feels otherwise he should complain to the national leadership of APGA.
