The Assistant coach of Pharaohs of Egypt Tito Sajivan has disclosed that his team will beat Super Eagles on Tuesday when both sides try each others for size in an international friendly match
Sajivan on Sunday in Asaba told newsmens moments after the team’s arrival that they were around to do their best and ensure they beat the Nigerian side.
The Egyptian side had arrived in Asaba from Niger Republic where they drew 1-1 with the hosts in their final qualification group match on Saturday.
The coach said playing against a strong team like Nigeria demands seriousness and commitment, and his team of young and talented players would need to be at its best to win.
“This is a very important match, because Nigeria is a strong team and it is our last friendly match before the tournament.
“We are going to do our best to win. Of course we are a strong team, but Nigeria is also a strong team. To us, this match is critical and we have a crop of young players here and the right players for the match.
“We have 24 players on board for Tuesday’s friendly with Nigeria, with the whole delegation numbering about 50,’’ Sajivan said
Amuneke makes history, qualifies Tanzania for 2019 AFCON after 39 years
Former Super Eagles assistant coach, Emmanuel Amuneke made history with Tanzania by guiding the Taifa Stars to their first Africa Cup of Nations appearance in 39 years after they defeated Uganda 3-0 at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam on Sunday.
Goals from Simon Msuwa, Erasto Nyoni and a sublime header from Aggrey Morris secured Tanzania’s berth at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
Amuneke’s charges finished second in group L with eight points, five behind leaders the Cranes of Uganda who have already qualified for Africa’s biggest football showpiece event.
The other group L fixture between Cape Verde and Lesotho ended in a goalless draw.
Both Uganda and Tanzania join hosts Egypt, Nigeria,Burundi, Mali, Cameroon, Morocco, Angola, Mauritania, Senegal, Madagascar, Algeria, Benin, Ghana, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Congo, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Guinea-Bissau and Namibia.
The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations will, for the first time, take place in June and July in Egypt and will feature 24 teams rather than 16.
