No land illegally sold in Rabah LG – Chairman

Chairman of Rabah local government area of Sokoto state, Alhaji Salisu Lawalli Gandi, has aid no individual or group has sold any land across the area.
The council chairman made the clarification in Rabah town, headquarters of the local government during a stakeholders’ meeting on land matters.
According to him, the land allocated to a private firm, Man Modiya Nigeria Ltd, for the establishment of an ultra-modern firm in Ruzawa forest in Rarah ward, was done sequel to the approval of the local government council.
In the same vein, the virgin land which was never developed for over 50 years was allocated in line with the provisions of the subsisting Land Use Act that empowers the local government to do so.
Lawalli Gandi further averred that the aim of the gesture was contrary to insinuations that led to litigations against the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Mu’azu Dutse Tarah.
The chairman also stated that the land in question belonged to the
local government and not an individual or group, adding that the land was allocated to the company in line with the agricultural transformation programmes and policies of both the state and federal government.
This, according to him, was to bolster food security, reduce unemployment and poverty, as well as boost the economy of the three tiers of government.
