No policeman missing in Bayelsa, CP replies CLO

Bayelsa state Commissioner of Police, Nkereuwem Akpan, has debunked claims by the Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) that seven policemen attached to the command were killed during an alleged armed robbery operation in Ughelli, Delta state.
CP Akpan however, said the Bayelsa Police Command is taking stock of personnel under its command, and participating in joint investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged police killing, preliminary investigation showed that there is no policeman missing from the command.

The CLO had threatened a showdown and possible legal action against the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and the police hierarchy over their continuous silence on the brutal killing of seven serving policemen from the Bayelsa state police command.
Akpan, who displayed Ignorance over the allegation leveled by the CLO against the Police Inspector General, Adam Muhammad, said, “The police is trying to put the facts together. I became aware recently and let me assure that the truth can not be hidden. Like it happened in Delta state and not my command, the truth can not be hidden.”
He also said no divisional head of Police has complained of a missing personnel in the command, insisting, “Nobody has come to me to say any personnel is missing. But we are still taking stock. None of our men is missing.”

On the recent arrests of suspects in the state, Commissioner Akpan confirmed the arrest of a car snatching syndicate that infiltrated Yenagoa, the Bayelsa capital from neigbouring Imo and Ebonyi state to unlawfully sell stolen vehicles popularly known as mini bus snatched from a member of the public.
“Three suspects were arrested for the alleged snatching of three mini buses. The suspects are Chinemerem Emereonye, Edolor Ekiyoukekeme and Ogunkeye Ebenezer,” he said.
