NOA seeks youth grand alliance against corruption

Th e Director General of the National Orientation Agency, (NOA), Dr. Garba Abari has called for a youth alliance against all forms of corruption in the country saying that imbibing the right attitude as embedded in our national core values will help to eradicate corruption for national development. In a statement signed by the agency’s Head of Press, Paul Odenyi, the DG spoke at the graduation of cadets of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Academy in Kaduna yesterday saying the fi ght against corruption must be won at all cost.

Abari said that the fi ght against corruption should not be left for the government and the Commission only but should be the collective responsibility of all citizens especially the teeming youths who are agile, vibrant and very active on the social media to propagate and spread the anti-corruption campaign among Nigerians. “Our present situation as a country is due to our perversion of corruption in all facets of our daily lives. Every Nigerian, all men of good will are called upon to join in the campaign for a just, orderly society.

We require a grand alliance of interests to succeed in this fi ght, the DG said. Th e NOA boss said with positive values, Nigeria has all the potentials it takes to be great, given its vast human and natural resources. According to him, Nigerians should endeavour to imbibe and always demonstrate the tenets of our core values in order to realize the greatness that has always been in us.

Th e DG urged all citizens including traditional and religious leaders and the academia to stop giving honors and awards to people with questionable source of wealth in order to discourage those who are in positions to see public offi ces as a trust and not an avenue for looting our common wealth. Earlier, the Commandant of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Academy, Dr. David Tukura commended NOA for its drive for value re orientation and grassroots mobilization mechanism. He advocated for more funding and empowerment of the Agency to enable it carry out its mandate more eff ectively
