Nobody can influence my ruling, Justice Sami assures litigants

Justice Dakas Sami of Kaduna state High Court has assured that he will live up to his oath of fairness to all concerned, in the discharge of his duties. Speaking when hearing a case before him between Mr Lawrence Enyesiobi (plaintiff ) and former military administrator of Kebbi state, retired Col. John Ubah (defendant), the presiding judge of state High Court 14 said he had taken oath to be just and fair to all, while assuring that not even the Chief Justice of Nigeria could make him abdicate the oath. “Even the Chief Judge of the Federation cannot influence my ruling.
If I make an order or ruling and the party is not satisfied with the ruling, he can go on appeal and the issue will be taken to them there, where they would set it aside and give a different ruling.
“So, let me appeal to all the parties in this matter that they will get justice based on the point of law they presented before the courtand let them disabuse their minds; nobody somewhere will influence my judgment,” he said. Col Ubah (rtd) had prayed the court to grant him an indefinite adjournment in suit No. KDH/ KAD/202/2017 because of alleged interference by Hon Chief Judge of Kaduna state, Justice Tanimu Zailani, and his failure to exonerate himself.
“I have reported to the appropriate superior authority. I request this Hon. Court to adjourn this matter on suit No KDH/ KAD/202/2017 sine die, pending the necessary action on it by the ASA,” he added. The presiding judge thus slated May 16, 2018 for ruling on whether to adjourn the case sine die or not.
