‘Most nomadic education teachers don’t keep records’

 

Research has shown that majority of head teachers and teachers of the National Commission for Nomadic Education (NCNE) don’t keep school records properly among others, Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prof. Bashir Haruna Usman, has stated.
Prof. Usman made the revelation in a speech at a training workshop
on the use of curriculum guides, record keeping, multi-grade teaching techniques and guidance and counseling.
For Nomadic school head teachers and teachers in the South-South zone at Benin-city, Edo state from 6th – 10th, 2018.
In a statement made available to our correspondent in Kaduna, Usman said “You will recall that similar training workshops had been organized
for this zone by the Commission in order to update teachers’ knowledge, skills and competencies.
Such training programmes are intended to expose our teachers in the nomadic schools to variety of innovative strategies and child-centered methods of content delivery towards attainment of the goals and objectives of the Nomadic education programme.
The ES stated that the objectives of the teacher training workshop was to develop participants’ knowledge and competencies on effective use of curriculum guides. Equipped participants with techniques of proper record keeping; Train participants on how to prepare scheme of work, lesson plan and lesson notes in different subject areas.
Earlier in a welcome address, tacting director, Department of Programmes Development, Dr. Rose Nwaji, stated that the workshop was very important because the main purpose is to ensure that teachers’ knowledge and skills were sufficiently upgraded for the laudable goal of Nomadic education Programme.
