Normalcy returns to CCB as Acting Secretary resumes after presidency intervention

Normalcy seems to have returned to the national headquaters of the Code of Conduct Bureau after the initial confusion during the week, checks has revealed.

Our correspondent who visited the CCB office in Abuja on Friday, saw staff of the agency going about their normal duties even as it was gathered that the Acting Secretary, Mrs. Folasade Kolawole has resumed work and fully in charge of the Bureau.

Recall that the agency witnessed a protest against the recall of the current Acting Secretary, alleging that she had retired from service.

It was also gathered that top director who allegedly masterminded the confusion was said to have calmed down after top Presidency officials warned him about the consequences of his activities contrary to the directive of the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

One of the top official of CCB who confided in our correspondent disclosed that “things are calming down. Except for the case in court, things are returning to normalcy. Our top management are billed to meet shortly and everybody is realizing the need to support the Acting Secretary to move the bureau forward.”

Another staff of the agency who claimed to by Mrs Kolawole’s colleague also noted that the Acting Secretary initially offered to resign because of undue pressure on her to bend the rule and dance to the whims and caprices of the former chairman.

“She refused to approve some funny things and she was suspended. She then angrily offered her resignation letter. Few days after, the court sacked the board, the chair for overstaying in office. She then wrote the SGF to return to service. And it was approved. Hence her resumption of duties.

“What happened during the week is over. It is an attempt to blackmail the Acting Secretary but the whole fact is now in public domain”, the source noted.
