North Central handball league begins Feb 21

Inaugural North Central handball league will hold at the Abuja National Stadium courts from February 22 to 29th.
The league is being sponsored by Geogojih Foundation led by a member of Mega Veteran, Mr. Saidu Jibril. 


Secretary of the Main Organising Committee, Benjamin Peblow Obe said 10 male and 7 female teams will compete for honours in the one week championship.
Peblow disclosed that accommodation and feeding will be free for all the teams participating  in the event.
He gave the names of the registered teams as Civil Defence, Niger United, Road Safety and Nasarawa United which will be coming out for their first national assignment.


The Vice Chairman of Benue State Handball Association said the league which would be played at the outdoor and indoor courts of the National Stadium will provide the North Central  teams the opportunity to sharpen their skills in readiness for the National Prudent Energy League.
He also disclosed that second phase of the league will hold in Ilorin while Niger and Plateau states may host the second edition next year.


Said he ” Not only the players stand to benefit during the league the technical officials, coaches and referees also will benefit from the seminar to be organised during the league,”.
We are also going to hold championships in the zone for U-12, U-13 and U-15 players which will serve as nursery for the ageing players,” he added.
