North East leaders seek Atiku’s return to PDP

North East Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders yesterday formally asked former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to return to the party before Saturday’s elective congress of the opposition party.
The leaders made the request yesterday when they made a courtesy visit to the former chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who defected from the party over he called the inability of the party to meet the yearnings of Nigerians as well as the highhandedness of the federal government on sensitiveness national issues.
The public was made aware of the latest development on Atiku’s Facebook page, which stated that the former Vee Pee was glad to see the party returning to its roots.
‘Leaders from the North East PDP visited me and amongst other things, they reminded me of our shared history.
“I’m glad to see the party returning to its roots’, Atiku said on his Facebook page.
Also said he commended young Nigerians for protesting the injustices peacefully online, stressing that buying a laptop to earn a living shouldn’t attract harassment.
Further, Atiku asked the Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Idris, to take up the complaints of the young Nigerians seriously.
‘I also urge the National Assembly to look into these complaints, and address the human rights issues. Reforms are urgently needed.
“I commend our young people for protesting these injustices peacefully online, and encourage the IG of @PoliceNG to take these complaints seriously’.
