Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Rules and Business, Albert Sam-Tsokwa, yesterday berated some Northern governors for “aiding acts of terrorism, especially the clashes between herdsmen and farmers in many parts of the North.”
He warned that the herdsmen/farmers clashes were presently a time bomb which if not nipped in the bud had the tendency to transform into the Boko Haram challenge the country was dealing with.
Tsokwa also warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors calling for the sack of the 37 lawmakers not to overheat the polity.
The Taraba lawmaker declared that only the House Speaker, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and not the courts could vacate the seats of the 37 lawmakers that defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Party (APC).
He asked the governors to go to court and get an order of mandamus to compel the Speaker to declare their seats vacant.
Tsokwa who represents Donga/SSA/Takum/Special Area federal constituency made stated at a press briefing held at the National Assembly.
He said: “What we call farmer/grazer conflict is a king of insurgency against the farmer. A grazer is a farmer, young cultivator is a farmer. Just as I cannot walk up to your land and begin to make heaps because your land is good and I want to plant rice there.
“A grazer too has no right to walk into my land no matter how conducive for grazing and begin to graze there. If he has no land, I have land. I have no animal. Come, buy my land, give me money and graze there.”
