Northern speakers’ forum elects Marafa as new chair

The Northern Speakers Forum on has elected officers that will run it affairs for 2015/2019 term with the Speaker of Niger state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Marafa as its Chairman.
Marafa was elected the new forum chairman during an election which took place on the sideline of a workshop organised by the Conference of Speakers of State Legislators held on Friday in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

The  workshop which centred on the Criminal Justice System Reforms in Nigeria has Speaker of Zamfara state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sanusi Garba Rikiji as its vice chairman while Speaker Kano state House of Assembly and member representing Doguwa and Chairman house committee on information Rt. Hon. Salisu Ibrahim Muhammad was elected the secretary of the forum.

A statement issued in Ilorin at the end of the election which was signed by Hon. Muhammad, also elected Speaker of Kaduna state house of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Abdullahi Shagali as the financial secretary and Speaker Adamawa state House of Assembl, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa as the treasurer of the forum.
While commending the northern speakers for their show of commitment by promptly attending meeting, the Acting Chairman of the forum Rt. Hon. Adamu Dala Dogo expressed appreciation to them for their display of maturity and unity of purpose while electing the new set of leadership for the forum.

Dogo therefore called on the new set of leadership of the forum to dedicate themselves in order to make legislature a strong force it is suppose to be in oiling democracy for the overall development of northern region in particular and the country in general.
He however congratulated the Speaker of Kebbi state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ismaila A. Kamba for emerging as the Chairman of conference of speakers of Nigeria’s legislature and prayed for God’s guidance while in office and promised him the unflinching support of the northern speakers.
