Northern Youth Assembly restates support for Buhari

Northern Youth Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN) has reiterated its resolve to support policies being rolled out by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to improve the fortune of Nigerian youths. Newly elected Speaker of the assembly, Ukasha Hamza Rahama, said in his acceptance speech that the group was formed to serve as a platform for youths from the northern part of the country to participate in both regional and national activities for nation building.

According to him, the assembly consists of vibrant, patriotic, energetic and trusted northern youths from all the 19 states of the region with objective of promoting the teachings and ideals of people like Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Joseph Tarka, Mallam Aminu Kano and others. “Northern Nigeria is greater than every northerner be him in power or otherwise, be him in the system or otherwise. We should join hands together and rebuild a better north for ourselves and our children”, he said. In his remarks, chairman of the occasion and the Grand Patron of the assembly, Mallam Aliyu Umar Misau, commended the youths for their resolve to help in building their future.

He said that as future leaders, they must support present eff orts being made to restore confi dence in leadership and put Nigeria back on track and fi ght the menace of corruption. Bauchi state Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, thanked the youth organisation for conducting their activities in accordance with the law at a time when some misguided youths are threatening the peaceful coexistence and survival of the country as one entity. Abubakar who was represented by Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Nasiru Yelwa, said that in order to reduce youths restiveness and criminality, his administration had rolled out programmes to empower them to become self reliant
