Northern youths condemn moves against Jonathan/Sambo ticket

Northern youths have condemned moves by some politicians from the region to scuttle the cordial working relationship between President Goodluck Jonathan and vice-president, Namadi Sambo, ahead of the 2015 general elections.
According to them, the North has benefitted most from this administration.
Speaking under the aegis of Northern Patriotic Youths for Development (NPYD), the youth said the ambience and comradeship that existed between the President and his deputy made it possible for the North to benefit many almajiri schools across the region to provide western and Islamic education for thousands of out of school children.
The group’s national coordinator, Danladi Husseini Abubakar, and secretary-general, Ishaku Kefas Irimiya, said: “We have noticed with sadness the ongoing political onslaught against Arc. Namadi Sambo targeted at sowing a seed of discord in the Presidency to create acrimony between the President and his genuinely loyal deputy.
“The self-serving politicians and their foot soldiers have presently found a new stock in trade by spreading erroneous political credentials of the vice-president claiming that he lacks the political base and support to help Mr. President actualize his second term ambition in 2015.”
According to them, apart from the educational strides that have endeared the Jonathan government to Northern youths, the elite, artisans and market men and women are also in support of the administration, as it has taken measures to improve the economy of the region through the 215mw power plant at Kudenda in Kaduna.
NPYD added that the strong collaboration of President Jonathan and VP Sambo led to the dredging of the River Niger with major inland ports in Kogi and Niger states, while the new fast rail expected to further link Kaduna and Abuja through parts of Niger state is almost completed, just as the rehabilitation of the Lagos-Kano mass train is on-going.
