NOTAP endorses 3rd Anti-Corruption Marathon race



The third edition of the National Anti-Corruption Marathon race will hold on Saturday December 19,2020 at 7:00am and will take off from the Eagles Square and finish at the same point in Abuja.


The event organised by Fair Play Sports International Agency in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, Nigeria Olympics Committee (NOC) and Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) is in honour and support of President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration’s battle against the dreaded vices of corruption that has bedeviled all facets of the nation’s life.


The event which has been receiving tremendous support and accolades on Thursday received another endorsement from the National Office for Technology Acquisition & Promotion(NOTAP), one of the parastatal under Ministry of Science and Technology when the Anti-Corruption Marathon officials paid a courtesy call on NOTAP in Abuja
Receiving officials of the Marathon Race on behalf of the Director General ,Dr.Danthzum Ibrahim who was represented by Director Consultancy Service Department, Dr.Adamu Tandama at the Wuse 2 office of the agency said “we are proud to be associated with a noble venture such as this”


“We are happy to be associated with the Anti-Corruption Marathon and we are in total support of the race. We will try our best to mobilize our staffs to participate in the race and encourage them to shun all vices that has to do with corruption” he said
Earlier in his remarks, the National Co-ordinator, Jacob Onu disclosed that “the overall intention of the marathon is to create awareness on the danger of corruption to our existence as a people and society at large.


“The registration is free and open to all citizens of Nigeria.
To this effect, we are working hard to not only build on the success of the 1st and 2nd Edition, but to also improve on it. So far, more athletes have registered to participate and registration is still ongoing. Athletes can also visit our offices at Suites 32.2 at MKO National Stadium, Abuja to register or visit www.nationalanticorruptionmarathon.org.ng
According to him, the ministry is working in collaboration with the anti-corruption agencies like EFCC, ICPC, Code of Conduct Bureau and Kano State Anti-Corruption Commission and several others agencies.
“We are organizing a Youth and Students Summit on Anti-Corruption and Drug Abuse. The Summit will hold on the 9th of December by 12noon at the Auditorium of the prestigious Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja, where some prominent citizens and great minds of our Nation shall deliver papers”


The total distance of the race is 21.03km (approximately half a marathon), covering a total area of 23.04km2.
Athlete will run through the marathon route and finish at the Eagle Square.
